The Grey County 4-H Showdown: A Multi-Day Agricultural Showcase
One of the biggest highlights of the Owen Sound Fall Fair is the Grey County 4-H Showdown, a premier livestock competition showcasing the best young show people in the region.
Before the pandemic, this event was a one-day, high-energy show, with three show rings operating simultaneously on Friday of the fair. However, since COVID, the Showdown has evolved into a multi-day event, allowing for a bigger, better experience for exhibitors and spectators.
Event Schedule:
📅 Friday (Daytime): Beef Show – Youth showcase their cattle-handling and showmanship skills with their projects.
📅 Friday (Evening): Sheep Show – A chance for young members to display their expertise in sheep showmanship.
📅 Saturday (Daytime): Dairy Show – Dairy competitors take the ring
.📅 Saturday (Afternoon):
Overall Grand Champion Show person Competition – The top show people from each livestock category (beef, sheep, and dairy) face off in a final competition to determine the overall Grand Champion Show person.
Beyond the excitement of the competition, the Grey County 4-H Showdown is also a key selection event. The top competitors in Beef and Dairy earn the chance to represent Grey County at the prestigious Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto in November.
